SUMMARY:Coastal Foraging at The Cove
DESCRIPTION:Head on down to the beach to the Cove Cafe\, Hayle\, the perfect location to forage for edible coastal plants and wild food.  The course is fun and informative and run by the hugely knowledgeable Emma\, Creator and owner of “Never mind the Burdocks”. (we love the name!!) \n\n\n\nAfter the foraging session\, you will be welcomed back to the Cove Cafe for a delicious lunch and refreshments. What Emma doesn’t know about foraging isn’t worth knowing\, this unique\, highly informative and great day out is sure to kick start any budding wild food lover. \n\n\n\nCourse Overview \n\n\n\nDuration: 10:00-14:30 \n\n\n\nMax student to tutor ratio: 12/1 \n\n\n\nTutor: Emma Gunn – Never mind the burdocks  \n\n\n\nWelcome talk\, orientation and safety briefing \n\n\n\nDuring this session we will cover the aim of the course\, toilet facilities\, course area and safety briefing.  Don’t forget to wear suitable clothing and footwear and always bring a waterproof ready for the changeable Cornish weather!! \n\n\n\nForaging around The Beach \n\n\n\nLocated in an ideal environment for a coastal foraging course in Cornwall\, your group will be taken on a foraging excursion around the sand dunes and beach where you will explore many different environments – including hedgerow\, beach\, sand dunes and coast. You will learn about the whole wild food larder dealing with herbs\, roots\, shoots\, berries\, flowers\, nuts and fungus. At the end of the foraging course\, you should be able to easily identify lots of edible plants that you will be able to forage in your own time. \n\n\n\nLunch  \n\n\n\nYou will then be welcomed into the Cove Cafe to enjoy a delicious lunch. DESCRIPTION:The humble but mighty pasty\, you cannot come to Cornwall without eating and experiencing a pasty. So naturally during this course students will learn how to make a the best Cornish Pasty (family recipe!) and sample a traditional Cornish cream tea. \n\n\n\nCourse Overview \n\n\n\nDuration: 10:00-12:30 \n\n\n\nTutor: Various \n\n\n\nMaximum student to tutor ratio: 10-1 \n\n\n\nWelcome: Meet your tutor and see for yourself the Philleigh Way farmhouse cookery school and garden. Enjoy a morning tea or coffee. \n\n\n\nThe Day: The course kicks off with a proper pasty making demonstration that covers the history and culture of the Cornish pasty.  You will then have a go at making your own pasty (meat or vegetarian) with hands on guidance from our tutors – especially during the all important crimping stage! Whilst the pasties are in the oven\, you will enjoy a demonstration of homemade scones. SUMMARY:Family Pizza Making Experience
DESCRIPTION:At Philleigh Way\, we love pizza and I mean love! Making pizza is a great alternative to simply eating at a restaurant – and this course gives families an unforgettable experience. You and your family can learn how to prepare and bake a pizza – from start to delicious finish! \n\n\n\nStarting with your pizza dough\, you’re able to roll and shape it – and then add the fresh tomato sauce. And of course\, it would not be complete without the all authentic local ingredients that you can choose to add to your unique pizza! \n\n\n\nYou finally bake your edible masterpiece in a traditional wood oven. At this point kids are covered in white flour and tomato sauce\, but it’s worthwhile when you all get to enjoy your delicious Italian-style pizza together. \n\n\n\nYou will each get to take home your very own handmade dough to make more pizzas at home or freeze to use another day! \n\n\n\nCourse Overview \n\n\n\nDuration: 11:00am – 1:30pm (including family lunch) \n\n\n\nTutors: Rupert Cooper – Head tutor \n\n\n\nWelcome: Meet your tutor and see for yourself the Philleigh Way farmhouse cookery school and garden.
